Push by Z Wireless Puts Verizon Store Count at Nearly 300

STAMFORD, CT – Z Wireless, backed by Atlantic Street Capital, said it has bought most of the Verizon Wireless retail locations of The Wireless Center Inc. and Select Communications Inc., pushing its store count to nearly 300. The deal will see Z Wireless broaden its footprint beyond the Great Plains area and into Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and West Virginia.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

The acquisition is the latest in Z Wireless’ build up. In March, the Sioux Falls, S.D., company acquired T2 Wireless Inc., a Verizon Wireless retailer with 12 stores throughout Kansas.

Atlantic Street, of Stamford, Conn., acquired the chain of stores, which sell equipment and services for the Verizon Wireless network, in the fall, and it was the firm’s first deal from its second fund, which closed with slightly less than $100 million.
